Symptoms of Menopause
Symptoms of menopause, there comes a time when every woman will experience low hormonal production in her late years and thus lead to loss of her period. This is the time that most declare menopause and has its symptoms that the women experience. Whether menopause happens naturally or through cancer treatments it is found to affect the sex life of the woman, lead to mood swings, and cause hot flashes. The symptoms of menopause that are most common include hot flashes, loss of libido, night sweats and vaginal dryness.
The symptoms of menopause can be grouped into four; these are large symptoms grouped together to show certain changes. The four groups are common symptoms, changes, pains, and others. With the four groups defining symptoms of menopause, it is easy to figure out if the woman is really in menopause or there are other health related problems.
Common Symptoms of Menopause
The common symptoms of menopause include hot flashes, loss of libido, mood swings, irregular periods, night sweats and vaginal dryness. Hot flashes are sudden warm sensations of heat spreading all over the body causing redness and occur on the face and upper parts of the body. They are normal and are due to a low hormone supply and most women will most likely experience them. Night sweats are similar to flashes though more intense. They are also referred to as nocturnal hyperhidrosis, where the women will perspire greatly when asleep.
During menopause women will also experience symptoms of irregular menstrual periods; while in some they are absent; in others they are short and irregular during menopause. This is greatly influenced by the hormonal imbalance in the body; where the menstrual may even disappear for months. Loss of libido is a symptom of menopause where the woman loses the urge of sex. The vagina also becomes dry and less moist, the soft feel of the virginal lining also disappears and there may be issues of itching and irritation. Mood swings are often experienced with sudden tears, however severe moods swings may be a sign of a psychological disorder.
The changes group of the symptoms of menopause includes fatigue, hair loss, sleep disorders, memory lapse, concentration problems, dizziness, weight gain, incontinence, bloating, brittle nails, and allergies, changes in odor, irregular heartbeats, anxiety, irritability, depression, and panic disorders.
For symptoms of menopause in the pains group there are mainly breast pains, headaches, joint pains, burning tongue, electric shock feeling in the head and beneath the skin, digestive problems, gum problems, muscle tension, itchy skins, and tingling extremities. These symptoms can be very distressing as the body will be in pain and hence cause discomfort during this period.
In the others group of the symptoms of menopause there is osteoporosis; this occurs after several years. The major sign is the dwindling of the bone strength and the bones getting thinner. The mass and density decrease and hence they can break or fracture easily. There is also tinnitus which is the ringing, whooshing, or buzzing in the ears.We should note that, these symptoms of menopause do not always occur at the same time or consecutively but gradually and at different times to different women.
